Chapter 2

“This is Bulma Briefs speaking. Yes. Say what?!”

I paused my training and waited for Bulma to enter to tell me what was wrong.

“Vegeta.”

There was a really worried look on her face, something was very wrong.

“It’s Parawal, her gym teacher just called, she fainted in the dressing room.”

Her face was pale. I don’t know what could have caused Parawal to faint, but it must be something really serious. I tried to search for her ki, but she was to weak for me to find it from here.

“Woman, where is her school?”

“Over there, about 12 miles form here.”

She pointed east. As she had said her sentence, I took of, going to my daughter.

“What happened here?”

It didn’t take me long to find her school and once there I was capable of detecting Parawals ki. She lay there on a bench of the dressing room.

“I don’t know. I was preparing the gym hall and then someone came in telling me she had fainted.”

He too still looked a little bit pale and my furious reaction didn’t exactly make it go away.

“What caused her to faint?”

I looked around eying everyone that could have known the answer. Then a little girl stepped in front, pointing at an other girl.

“She pulled her, uh, tail.”

My eyes widened. The one thing I somehow always forgot to train of her was her tail. And now a little weakling girl was able to make her faint. This was serious trouble.

“Humpf, she’ll be alright then.”

Everyone around gave me a strange look. Many of them still surprised that I didn’t find it strange that my own daughter had a tail.

“Whoever dears to do that again however, will not know the luck of being alright anymore.”

This time fear had taken over on their faces. Even though I wasn’t evil anymore, I still enjoyed it. I looked over at her worthless teacher.

“I’m taking her home, she’ll be back tomorrow.”

He nodded. I swung Parawal over my shoulder and walked out.

“O my, Vegeta, what happened to her?”

“Someone thought it was funny to pull her tail, don’t worry to much about it, she’ll be fine. I’ll be putting her in bed now.”

She nodded, still worried, but believing me that she’d be alright. In her room I placed her on the mattress. I didn’t want her to have one, but Bulma insisted, she said it was inhuman to let someone sleep on the floor. And every time I started about her not being human at all, she just wouldn’t listen to me.

I now suppose it is better this way. I was to sleep on the floor many nights, but that was when Freeza had captured me. On the planet Vegeta I don’t believe anyone had ever slept on the floor if they had a house to live in. I also shouldn’t forget that she is a princes as well.

“Dad, what happened, how did I get here?”

“I brought you here. it’s time for you to go to school.”

“Say what? You want me to go back there? How can you dad, how can you send me back to that place?”

“Stop whining, I have told you before to never let anyone grab your tail, this was your own mistake, you just better prevent it from happening this time.”

She looked astonished. She knew I could be cruel, I guess she just never expected me to turn my back on her like this when she felt like she needed me. But this is for the best, I refuse to raise quitters.

“Dad, why are you following me? I can get to school by myself you know.”

“Yes, just as you can turn around and go somewhere else on yourself to.”

“As if I couldn’t do that when I get there.”

“Fine then, you want me to baby-sit you as if you are a little child that could run of anytime, then I will.”

“No dad, that’s not what I mend.”

“Be quiet!”

She shivered. I knew that just like her mother, she couldn’t stand it if I screamed. But that wouldn’t stop me if she didn’t listen to me otherwise.

“Ah Parawal, you brought your daddy? What is wrong? You’re not scared are you?”

It was the girl that I was to believe who had pulled her tail. She looked away, not wanting to defend herself. So just this time, I decided to help her out.

“I came with her to make sure she wouldn’t run from her problems, I’m not here to solve them. She is capable of doing that herself just fine.”

The girl looked at me with full arrogance in her eyes, waiting for me to get scared and break eye contact. I didn’t look away. We stood there for a few minutes and quite some people have gathered around us. The longer I looked at her, the more nervous she became.

“Dad, cut it out. School’s about to start.”

I smirked, this girl would have to go to class, while I could just stand her all day.

“Dad just, go home would you.”

I was astonished, but made sure of it that no one was able to see it. Parawal she, she sounded, ashamed. Ashamed of me.

“Humpf, fine then. but don’t you let a weakling like her get to you you hear me?”

“I shouldn’t let her get to me? Dad, look at yourself, you’re the one having a staring contest with her.”

I blinked in surprise. Though I hated to admit it, she was right. I gave the girl one last look, then I flew off.

“Dad, I should kill you for what you did to me today! Don’t you have any sense at all?”

Bulma and I looked up from the couch to the sunshine that had just entered the house.

“What are you talking about?”

“Everyone would have hated me. It isn’t exactly cool you know, if you need one of your parents to come to school with you.”

“What do you mean, would have?”

A little smirk crept on her face.

“No one had expected you to just fly away and when they saw that I wasn’t surprised about that at all I showed them that I could fly as well. Everyone of my class likes me now, except for that girl you met, but that’s because she used to be the number one in the class.”

“Parawal darling, be careful okay.”

“What do you mean mom?”

“I’m just saying that girls like that can be very mean. They’ll do whatever they can to get back at you, you must stand your ground, do not let her win. There is no other way for you to win this one than to make your classmates realise that she’s cruel and mean. Do not trust her, no matter how nice she might seem.”

Parawal nodded, some fear overtaking her. At her other schools she was never accepted and always bullied away. She never stood her ground. And now, when everyone but one liked her, she again had to stand her ground,

I’m worried. I don’t know how yet, but I’m going to help her. Al though it perhaps would be better to let Bulma handle this one, seeing on what she already knew about this, I wouldn’t just be shoved aside. I looked at here. Even though trouble was all over her face, I knew she would handle everything just fine. Perhaps she’d need Bulmas help, but she’d be just fine.

“Well Parawal, non the less, I do assume you’ve learned something about yesterday. They now know you have a tail, and they accept you, but that doesn’t mean your tail is save. It’s time to train.”

She slightly nodded, knowing what I meant, and somewhat agreeing with it.

“Vegeta, she just got home from her first full school day, do you really think it’s smart to go train with her already?”

“Yes woman, I do.”

With that said Parawal and I walked to the garden.

The day went by really fast. Parawal learned quite fast and her tail is no longer a weak spot. I would have sparred with her some more before she went to bed, but decided to give her some slack.

“Parawal, it’s time for you to go to bed.”

She nodded, said goodnight and went upstairs. As I entered the living room I saw Trunks watching the television.

“Trunks, you go to bed too son.”

“But dad…”

He turned around and my expression caused him to not finish his sentence. He stood up, mumbled something, then went upstairs. I turn off the television Trunks had left on and then sit on the couch. I hear Bulma enter and feel her placing herself beside me.

“Is Bulla asleep?”

Bulla, my second daughter, though Bulmas first. She just became 2 years old and looks just like her mother.

“Yes, she’s been asleep for some hours now.”

She sighs. I want to ask her what’s troubling her, or what she all did today that made her so tired, but I didn’t. In stead I wrap my arm around her, pulling her head against my chest, stroking her beautiful blue hair with my fingers. She looks up to me, a smile appearing on her face. I move my head down a little, to kiss her.

With that and all that has been bothering Bulma, she fell asleep as well. She lay within my arms for some time, then I brought her upstairs, put her pyjamas on and placed her in her bed, then lying next to her. The moment I lie there she comes to me, while still sleeping, and she comes cuddling up to me. I embrace her, placing my head on hers and then I too, fall asleep.
